826 Valencia’s Middle School Leadership Program empowers students in grades 6-8 through writing projects, collaborative activities, field trips, and public speaking opportunities.

This year, we responded to what was real and present. From the global scale to the very local scale (including eulogizing a rat trapped in the walls of 826 Valencia), students used writing and media to process reality, grow as leaders, and build individual and collective power. This selection of eight works by middle school students highlights their thoughtfulness and unique perspectives.
